Thread: Haven't pumped.. baby is 6 months, too late?

Default Haven't pumped.. baby is 6 months, too late?

My baby is 6 months and I haven't really needed to pump, which shame on me, I'm learning now. I just started my period and am having a little bit of a letdown. My period just started last week but have had this decreased milk supply the last month. I am increasing daily water intake and drinking mother's milk tea, but still only producing small amounts. My question is- Is it too late to start pumping? Will my supply increase if I start pumping now?

    Welcome to the forum!

    Some questions for you:
    1. Are you staying home with your baby, or are you back in the workplace?
    2. Are you nursing on demand or on a schedule?
    3. Are you nursing your baby at night?
    4. What signs of low supply are you seeing? Why do you think your supply is low?

Yes, it will increase your milk supply even if you pump now. Actually mums use pump only when they observe decrease in milk supply or when they are away from the baby or who wants to offer expressed milk for other reasons.
