Help! My baby boy is 11 weeks this week and for the past 2 weeks he has become increasingly fussy when offered the breast. He latched on fine and was a great nurser from the beginning, so I'm not sure what has changed. He will begin to offer cues like he is hungry, so I will begin to cradle him to nurse and he starts to fuss and cry before he even latches. He then will latch suck 2-3 times and pull off crying. Sometimes he seems to choke a little others times not. He absolutely will not nurse if I'm sitting, and seems to do better if I stand and walk around but it is still a struggle?? I have tried pumping and offering a bottle and he has the same reactions, fussy and cries, chokes sometimes. I'm not sure if his throat hurts, trouble swallowing, fast let down, overly tried or growing. He is having one poopy and several slightly wet diapers in 24 hours. However I am getting increasingly worried. I did see a local lactation specialist and she commented that he seems to be having discomfort when nursing and she recommends gas drops or gripe water ( neither helped). He usually gets so worked up that I end up giving him his pacifier and he falls asleep on my chest. Some other things worth noting are he only does this during the day? I nurse him in bed during the night and he is fine (have tried nursing in bed during day and he is still fussy). Also I have never been able to get him to sleep on his back, he will only sleep on his stomach. I appreciate any help in advance.
