Thread: Low Supply?

    Default Low Supply?

My son is 2.5 months old now, and I cannot seem to get more than 3 oz when I pump. (sometimes less) I am pumping every 2 hours, and I haven't gotten any more than 3 oz ever...I tried reglan, and it helped get me to the 3 oz, but never more. What else can I do? Is it possible that I'm unable to produce any extra?

    Welcome to the forum!

3 oz is actually quite good pump output. On average, a nursing baby takes around 2-4 oz at a feeding, making up for the smaller size of the average feeding by nursing frequently. So 3 oz is really an entire feeding's worth of milk.

    Some questions for you:
    - Are you pumping after feedings of instead of feedings?
    - Are you pumping at work, pumping the occasional bottle for a sitter, or pumping in an effort to increase milk supply?
    - What sort of pump are you using?
