We skipped the cereal as well. But now at 15 months I sometimes make her oatmeal or kasha for breakfast, she didn't like those things before but she does now. And I just cook them with water. I suppose whole cow's milk would add some fat, I definitely wouldn't use breastmilk for cooking just because it is too much work for me! Sometimes I use whole milk in the cheese sauce we make for noodles, we buy it in case a recipe needs milk and otherwise use it up in tea and coffee. Didn't start using it in our baby's food until 9 months or so and she still got most of her calories from breastmilk then. We just liked her to sit with us at meal times and try a taste of the foods we eat.
