Default weaning and first PP period

So what is the average time to have to wait for a period once weaned completely? Nursing once a day kept my PPAF from arriving so I'm still waiting for that first period still and I quit nursing completely 17 days ago. Obviously not yet a month but I could swear I had all the signs of ovulation about 11 days ago including really sore breasts for the first time ever. Well, except engorgement pain but this felt different and it stopped about a couple days after the fertile cervical mucus went away. It was the first time I actually had that fertile CM since before pregnancy. I know it really varies from woman to woman so that's why I'm curious about averages and maybe the longest wait. My child is now 14 months old so from what I have found out through good old google, chances are higher to ovulate before that first period but obviously not a guarantee.

I think most women get their periods within a month or two of complete weaning. If you don't get yours back within a couple of months, you may want to try a pregnancy test, since many women conceive without ever having a period.

Average time until return of menses in a nursing mother is around 15.5 months, so it's unsurprising that your period was still MIA at 14 months.

thanks! Never thought I'd be begging for my period but she kind of needs to get here so we can move forward with TTC. I needed IVF to get pregnant so once AF arrives, we can get the ball rolling on that process again.

I remember when my period was still MIA after 15 months. It showed up and for a moment, I was all "Yay!" The next moment, I was thinking "Wait, I hate this!!! Waaaah!!!"

Good luck with the TTC plans, mama. Hope it all goes smoothly for you. I have heard that sometimes one baby kind of "paves the way" for another... I know it took me nearly a year to conceive DD1 (and I wasn't even in my 30s at that point!) but just one night to make DD2.

I've heard that too and part of me is interested in trying that approach but the emotionally scarred bit says to avoid that drama again. The specialist says it's unlikely to happen but you know, she gets paid to make me pregnant. My friend wants me to try some other supplements that she thinks could help and so I'm trying to decide what to do. In the meantime, we just DTD as we feel and wait for AF. I never had any symptoms when I got pregnant on IVF other than horrible bloating initially but that could have all been the progesterone I was on too.
