Okay, since my last post I have gotten a definite answer, but now I don't know what to do. Upon researching and looking back at previous posts on this website, I came across lip ties and my husband and I lifted up our daughters lip to find it staring at us smack in the face. And now that I've seen it i can even tell she's lip tied without raising her lip. Her shallow latch, never getting her mouth spread open wide on top and constant burping, recent clicking and chomping while nursing all make sense. But I have no idea what to do now. Is this something, because it has been interfering with nursing, that I seek out medical advice? I am astounded that we have made it this far so I don't want to risk losing the ability to breastfeed her. Is this under the care of a pediatric dentist? General pediatrician? Are there specialists for this? I did a laid back nursing session with her after finding out with her laid pretty much on top of me and she nursed beautifully! But I cannot do that while we are out. Has anyone gone through this or does anyone have any advice what steps I take now?
