If he is sad to have stopped, and you are sad to have stopped, why wean? In general, a baby who is nursed on demand will be able to stimulate a normal supply and will be able to get milk even if you feel "empty" pretty much all the time. And even if there is some reason for your milk to have disappeared, you can still retain nursing as a mothering tool, something which will help your baby through things like teething, transitioning into sleep, illness, injuries...
