Re: Help with 11W Growth Spurt
Welcome to the forum and congratulations on the new baby!
Some questions for you:
- How are you feeling? Healing from a c-section is no picnic!
- What is baby's corrected age? I.e. number of weeks since birth - 4 weeks.
- How does nursing feel? Is it painful at all?
- Baby's poop- since you transitioned to nursing instead of bottle feeding, has there been any change in color/frequency/amount of poop?
It is definitely normal for babies to suddenly increase their feeding frequency and feeding duration, particularly during growth spurts. It is possible for a baby to nurse for 2 hours straight- ask me how I know! My one concern here is that it sounds like you only just transitioned from pumping and bottles to feeding at the breast, and that can be a delicate time when it comes to baby's ability to get her needs met. I think you doing just what you should be doing- nursing frequently, weighing baby frequently, watching diaper output. Are you using a really good baby scale, a professional scale, or just a bathroom scale? If it's a professional scale, there are some things you can do with it that might help you to figure out whether or not your baby is taking in enough milk.
I know that it's really hard to trust your body after such a rough start. But you're doing everything right!
