there are no "documented studies" on bf while taking advair, but postures that the low levels of advair in the blood would indicate poor xfer into Bm. any one else take or taking it? any noticed effects on supply?

I'm having increased asthma irritation with the dry weather and now URI. tis the season.

    THANK YOU!

Is it an inhaler, diskus, or other form?

The Lactation risk- is L3 meaing Probably safe- There are no reports in lactating women available. Use your best judgement. Could you talk with your MD about using something that is known to be safe in breastfeeding mom and baby?

Advair combines salmeterol and fluticasone. This is from the LactMed database:

    Salmeterol:

    Summary of Use during Lactation:
Although no published data exist on the use of salmeterol by mouth or inhaler during lactation, data from the related drug, terbutaline, indicate that very little is expected to be excreted into breastmilk.[1] The authors of several reviews agree that use of inhaled bronchodilators is acceptable during breastfeeding because of the low bioavailability and maternal serum levels after use.[2][3][4][5]

    Fluticasone, inhaled:

    Summary of Use during Lactation:
Although not measured, the amounts of inhaled corticosteroids absorbed into the maternal bloodstream and excreted into breastmilk are probably too small to affect a breastfed infant. Reviewers and an expert panel consider inhaled corticosteroids acceptable to use during breastfeeding.[1][2][3]

Call the InfantRisk hotline (www.infantrisk.com) for further information about safety of drugs in breastfeeding.

I've been on the Advair 250 Diskus for years and have BF'd 3 kids with no supply issues at all.
