    Default Pulling at nipple

My 3 month old gets fussy at the breast a lot and will really pull at it with her mouth. Used to just happen at night and I figured maybe because my supply was lower but she will do it sometimes through the day too now. Breast compressions don't seemed to help her be happier. I can usually express milk by hand when she's doing this so I would think she's getting milk. I am a full time working mom and for the most part have been keeping up with her daycare supply demands. Maybe a flow issue from getting bottles but my mom is her daycare and takes extra caution with slowing the feedings so not much more to do about that. she isn't gulping so I don't think it is an overactive let down issue. I unlatch her when she does it then either help her relatch or she will relatch herself. Any thoughts?

Sometimes it's baby's way of reacting to a fast flow, sometimes it's a slow flow issue, sometimes it's distraction... It's really hard to tell. Relatching her is a terrific way to deal with this issue, no matter what the root cause is.

My son, 3 months as well, does this. He does it alot when hes fussy or getting full and kinda playing around (every now and then he'll pop off and give me a big smile, then attack my nipple again lol) i havent figured out how to help him stop but have started using lansinoh on my nipples again

Thank you ladies for the reply. Will just keep on truckin' with it. My 3 yr old has RSV and now this lil babe is coughing and sounding congested but still nursing pretty well, not as well as normal though. Praying it goes away quickly!

My 3 month old does the same thing as well. Maybe it's an age thing?
