Thread: flange size

    Default flange size

One of my nipples has developed some pain after pumping and the area resembles that of a hickey. Could the flange size on my pump be wrong and need I go up or down a size? Thanks for any input!

Your nipple should be able to move back and forth freely - if that's not the case (ie nipple is rubbing against the side) you need a bigger flange. On the other hand, it should just be the nipple moving back and forth, the areola should not be sucked in - if it is then you need a smaller flange. Also you want to avoid using an excessively high pump setting - use the highest setting that is still comfortable for you.
