Default Pumping at work and the Law -- the legal right

With the new healthcare plan, I have read that it is a requirement for employers to provide nursing moms with a place (other than a bathroom) to pump milk and unpaid breaks to pump. Now, is this only for full time employment or does it go for part time as well? Does anyone know the law/am I getting this right?

I want to make sure I am going to be able to keep breastfeeding as long as I can while being employed part time.

It differs by state. Look your state laws up.

Here's a link to the pumping protection covered by the Affordable Care Act (which is nationwide):

Not everyone is covered. It depends on the size of the company and employee status. There's a number on that link that you can call - maybe you call tell them the specifics of your situation and get some advice on what applies in your case.

I would talk to HR. I had a chat with my HR department and found it very educating. It is their job to know what the law says. Good luck.
