    Question Safe to eat honey?

I have been eating oatmeal for breakfast at work after reading here that it helps your supply. To sweeten it, I have been adding honey. A coworker told me this morning that I shouldn't be eating honey as it can cause allergies.

I had heard that babies shouldn't be given honey until they are older than 1, but I wasn't aware that maybe I should avoid it. Has anyone else heard of this? Is honey safe for a breastfeeding mother to eat?

Yep, not good for babies under one but fine for moms. My ds is allergic to a lot of things but Honey does not seem to bother him at all, that is when I eat it

I think the issue with honey is not allergies but the fact that it can carry botulism toxin. There is no way to pasturize honey so they cannot remove the botulism. I'm not sure if this is expressed in breast milk or not though.
