Baby 2 is 5.5 months old and nursing has been wonderful and smooth for almost 3 months now. Thanks for being so helpful, you all!
Lately (for about 10 days? 2 weeks?), baby's latch is getting painful. She nurses a lot at night, and some mornings my left areola (the nipple is flat, so the nipple itself is usually fine - she only uses my left side) is red, sore, and a bit shredded, but no bleeding yet. It feels sometimes like she's biting me, though the only tooth she has is a side one, not a front one. I guess my question is, can teething pain cause a latch to get bad? Because I suspect she's sprouting another tooth soon and it's causing her discomfort. If so, is there anything I can do besides wait it out?
Also for the past week or so I've been having some crampy feelings down there, sometimes almost regular like postpartum afterpains, more when she nurses. Is that usually a sign of fertility returning? Because I got 21 months of no periods after DD1 was born and I was sure hoping for something similar, not just 5 or 6 months!
