I've seen 2 LC's and both agree he (my 4wk old) has a labial tie and posterior tongue tie. I called our pediatrician to get a referral to an ENT to get him clipped, but the pedi says NO tongue and that the upper won't affect anything So, no referral and no ENT.
We nurse w/ a nipple shield because he *CAN'T* without one... It's our only option right now. Even WITH the nipple shield, we have a horrible, shallow latch that results in blanched "lipstick" nipples and extreme pain with each feed. He has plenty of wet diapers but is gaining slowly - 3-4oz a week. He clicks when he nurses as well. His tongue has limited range of motion, he can't flange his upper lips outwards either. They physically will not flange - I pull them out, immediately they roll under again.
What do you think? Tied or not? Should I seek another opinion??
