    Default Explosive poops relieving fussiness?

Hey everyone. My LO gets really fussy in the afternoon and then again in the evening. It seems that once she poops things calm down. Also her poops are EXPLOSIVE! I mean very loud! And same with her toots. Do you think there is something I'm eating to cause this, or even related? She also always seem to toot a lot in the morning.
Her poops are mustard color but there was a week that they were green but they've gone back to yellow. What do u think? Oh, she will be 7 weeks on Wednesday.

It could be something you're eating, but it may also just be fussiness. I personally don't want to jump to the conclusion that it's something I'm eating because I would rather not do the whole elimination thing unless I'm really sure it's the problem. I know others will chime in with more wisdom. all the best!

My baby does this pretty much daily. She'll be fussing at the breast, wanting to eat but clearly uncomfortable. I just try to keep her latched on as best possible, and all of a sudden she'll go still and let out a huge poop and loud farts. Check out my post under the Elimination section...I was concerned, but it's pretty normal!

This sounds like absolutely normal behavior for such a young baby. Many young babies find using the bottom end of their digestive system to be a bit upsetting- which is natural when you consider that they never did it until after they were born! If you had never pooped or passed gas until 7 weeks ago, you'd probably find those things pretty weird and upsetting.

Explosive poops and loud toots are just part of the package with a lot of babies. Totally normal, and nothing to worry about. I don't know why the baby books so rarely mention it... Probably because they're scared that no-one would ever have kids if they knew the truth!

I lied. Poops don't relieve fussiness. Last night was hell and she didn't fall asleep until 1am. Normally I would be fine with this but I hadn't had any sleep the previous night or nap during the day because if my toddler. So I cried and seriously considered stopping Breastfeeding, but if course it was the over tiredness talking. I managed to get a little sleep last night, hopefully will get a nap today to gear up for another night. What happens when they are too fussy to eat? She has been bruising my nipples! Pull off/on scream. Sometimes only a soother works - doesnt that effect supply/demand?

Sorry about your fussy night, mama! At this point, there should be no harm in offering a soother if baby won't take the breast. Just try to make sure she's not using the soother so much that her feeding frequency declines too far- you want to nurse a baby this age at least 8x per day, erring on the side of increased frequency (10-12x per day).

Does your DH help out during the evening fuss marathons?
