Never. Breastmilk continues to supply health benefits, comfort, and calcium, carbohydrates, healthy fats, and protein to the baby. In addition, increased duration of lactation confers health benefits to mom as well as baby; lowered incidence of diabetes, heart disease, certain cancers, and obesity.
Coolest thing my big girl said recently: "How can you tell the world is moving when you are standing on it?"
Coolest thing my little girl sang recently: "I love dat one-two pupples!"
I was just praised by MY doctor for breastfeeding at my annual physical exam.

The WHO and many other health organizations say that breastfeeding should continue until AT LEAST the age of 2 years. There are no known risks associated with continuing beyond that, and many benefits, as mommal described.
ThanksThe Lilah's Mommy: My daughter's old pedi told me at 15 months, the milk wasn't beneficial; I've changed docs and have a new appointment scheduled early next month so I'll see what the new doc says. My curiosity has the best of me is why I asked; so right now she is still getting lots of nutrition?

Yep. She's getting nutrition and antibodies and other good things that help keep her healthy. Check out this site.
