Thread: will my baby still nurse!

  1. #1

Default will my baby still nurse!

i have a new job and am leaving town for 35 hours.
my baby is 11 months, nearly 12.
i sat down tonight to pump and i'm not getting any milk out. i haven't pumped since she was 4 or 5 months when i went to work for just a few hours once a week.
so...i don't know what to do.
will she still nurse when i return if i haven't left any milk for her while i'm gone?!
and will my milk dry up if i'm not able to pump anything while i'm away from her?
    thx!

Most likely, yes, she will nurse when you return. I left DS at this age for about 12 months and it was no problem.

My main concern is for your breasts and your comfort. Are you nursing alot? Unless you're nursing very little, you're going to have to pump or hand express in order to stay comfortable and avoid mastitis or blocked ducts.

What type of pump do you have? Any way you can bring her along?

You may try the Marmet method for hand expression:

    Canadian mom and breastmilk fan.
We have 2 beautiful children: Luana who's 9 y/o, had breastmilk for 2 years and is smart as a whip. Lucas who came out kickin', is 4 y/o and continues to enjoy his milkies.
