Premie trouble with latching

My son was born a month early, but is now 5 wks old. I cannot seem to get him to
latch properly especially on my left side. I am right handed so I don't know if that
matters? I've had to quit nursing twice for about 3 days each because my nipples get so sore. Any suggestions? When does this get easier, I thought he would get the
hang of it by now...frustrating!!!

What positions have you tried? What latch techniques have you tried?

always try to start nursing when baby is calm and relaxed rather than hungry and frantic. Go off babies earliest cues or just offer anytime you like.

Great advice from the PP. I'd suggest seeing a lactation consultant, preferably an IBCLC. Nothing beats hands-on help when you are struggling with a small baby and a difficult latch.
