Re: Help help HELP PAIN!!!
I completely agree that this sounds like thrush. As I have had two babies and both times developed thrush directly after birth with both. This does not go away on its own, but only progress with increased pain, visible damage to the nipple, burning, everything you are describing. I have rid this a few different ways. As you are in so much pain, I know you are seeking this relief first...
Option #1 - Over the counter option
You can mix equal parts of each
-Cortizone 10 Cream (rids itching/burning)
-Anti-fungal Cream (Like Lotrim) Rids of fungal of thrush
-Bactarin Cream (Heals damaged nipples)
-For pain you can purchase advil liquid gel caps and cut open the gel caps and apply 2-3 liquids in the mixed cream.
Store in a small air-tight tupperware container
If you have a breastfeeding center close to you, I found more quick relief by seeing a lactation consultant who diagnosed thrush right away and prescribed me an all-purpose nipple ointment with tylenol powder. This provided a bit faster relief and they did also prescribe me with diflucan as the thrush had also caused me a yeast infection. They also included treating the baby with nystatin and I applied to my nipples as well. I quickly felt better and was cured within 2-3 weeks completely, but the relief was apparent much before. If you do not have a breastfeeding center near you, you might contact your pediatrician.
I hope this helps!!!!
