Pumping is not a good way to deal with oversupply. It creates extra demand to which your body responds by producing extra supply. Block feeding is the best way to make sure your baby gets the right proportion of the thinner milk you get from a full breast and the fattier milk you get from an emptier breast. Normally that occurs in a single feeding, but it can take two or more feedings to get it in an oversupply situation. Block feeding also effectively reduces your supply as the milk sitting in the unused breast signals your body to make less milk. A lot of oversupply is triggered by pumping too early on. Staying away from the pump for as long as possible is the best way to avoid oversupply.
