Default Perhaps a silly question about a yeast infection

I'm posting for my sister-in-law again. Her 3 month old has been diagnosed with a yeast infection rash on her neck. Can this be spread to my sister-in-law's nipples and cause thrush? This might be a silly question, but I figured I'd ask! Any thoughts? She was given a prescription of nystatin powder for her daughter. Should she be concerned about spreading it and causing thrush, or am I over-reacting? Thanks for any help!

your sisters situation brings back fond memories of my dd2.
She had sweet stinky smelly folds of skin at her wrists, thighs and neck.
Yes, it was yeast overgrowth. No, she did not pass it on to me.

Actually, I think your SIL should be extra cautious about hygiene while treating baby's neck. We always talk about how important hygiene is when a mom has nipple or breast thrush or a baby has oral thrush, because it can spread from an item of clothing or a bottle or a towel. I assume a baby's neck is no different.

All clothes, bras, towels, etc. should be washed on hot, vinegar rinse is a good idea.

Ok. I'll pass that on to her. Being extra careful can't hurt anything. Thanks!
