    Default what are the rules on having a drink and nursing?

    if i was to have a glass of wine or 1 drink while out to dinner... do i pump and dump... or 1 drink effect your milk?

    There are no "rules'. mothers through out human history eat and drink what ever foods/fluids are readily available.

    The rule is, if you are sober enough to drive, you can nurse. If not, don't. So if you have a glass right after you feed, you should be fine by the next feed. And if you are out to dinner, and have one or two I assume that by the time you drive home you will be fine.

    it helped me to understand these guidelines when i learned that milk is a blood product. so whatever the level of alcohol in your blood, is what's in your milk. that's why you don't have to pump and dump; as your body processes the alcohol and removes it from blood, it gets removed from milk too; it's not like it gets stored up or something.
