    Default Curios question

I was just wondering, I have a 9 month old who is a very distracted nurser, So in the afternoons, I will pump and give it to him in a bottle. On average I will pump between 3-4 ounces after about 3-4 hours. Is this a pretty decent amount at this stage?

He seems to be pretty happy with what he is getting, and is a really good solids eater and nurser. He still nurses about every 4 hours or so. Gaining weight like he should and healthy as can be. We both LOVE nursing, and he shows no sign of being ready to wean any time soon! I'm willing to snuggle, I mean nurse him as long as he wants

Like I said this is more a curiosity question then a problem question.

    Thanks for your thoughts!

What you are pumping sounds high to average to me. I, personally, wouldn't worry about pumping and giving him a bottle. It's normal for them to be distractable at this age. I'd take him a dark, quiet place to nurse. Keep an eye on his diaper output to make sure he's getting enough. I would avoid the bottle to avoid the expectation of a bottle. Plus, pumping isn't my idea of fun.

Thanks! I was just wondering what was considered "normal" for supply. I'm not worried at all, I seem to be keeping up with what he wants/needs
As far as taking him to a quiet place, well, that's a little hard to do. He is our 4th child, and even when I go to our room to nurse him, as is pretty typical, I get the 1 million "mommy....where is/can I" questions...LOL! That's why I started pumping for the one session in the afternoon and giving it to him in a bottle. He still nurses to sleep for nap time, and nurses morning, mid-morning,late afternoon, and a LOT in the evening. We co-sleep, so he nurses as much as he wants to at night. It's just that one session in the afternoon....

Of course it's up to you, but I wouldn't do it. He's probably getting plenty. But I have a love/hate relationship with my pump.

I responded to your other thread - nursing necklace, Ergo - but by all means stay the course if it's working for you.
