Less than a week old = no pacifiers. Too easy to screw up the baby's latch (babies suck differently on pacis than they do on the breast) and to inadvertantly use the paci to stretch out the intervals between feedings, which can result in low milk supply. It is generally advised that parents wait until 3-4 weeks of age (or longer, if breastfeeding is not going well) before introducing the paci.
