Thank you so much! I will definitely try these ideas and hope that they work. Your description of the flaky white on the nipple sounds familiar. I may have started out with a bleb from a plugged duct, but I'm starting to think thrush may be the problem now. "LAME!" is right!

Oh, and do I see my OBGYN if things don't improve? Is that who deals with this sort of issue?

Your ob, midwife, or pediatrician are all good resources for dealing with thrush. Just don't be shocked if you have to shop around for a provider who has experience with thrush: many of them know only to look for the classic symptom (white, pearly patches in the baby's mouth) and will brush off mom's concerns if they don't see the one thing they know to look for.
