Thread: It's probably normal, but I'm gonna ask anyway

Default It's probably normal, but I'm gonna ask anyway

I have always bf on demand. I know it's supposed to become less frequent, I get that, but some days it just feels as if my ds isn't interested at all.

Is this normal? I am not ready to wean yet I know it's not up to me, but I have never thought that the idea of weaning will be so emotional.

How old is your LO? From your siggy it looks like you have a 16 year-old DS and a 1 month-old DS- and the one is obviously not nursing any longer and the other is too young to start weaning. I'm just confused because this is in the toddler subforum...

    Yeah, but it's a 2 year-old DD, not DS...?

From prior posts I think her DS was born 22 May 2011 and will be 1 on Tuesday.

In which case it's normal for older babies to lose interest for a stretch while they are busy exploring the world. You can just continue to offer in a "no pressure" kind of way, and eventually his interest will probably pick back up. Those molars are on the way, and they often ramp up nursing. Mine went from mild disinterest to nursing like a newborn at that time.

For now, just try to keep nursing enjoyable. Snuggle if he likes snuggling or play with him if he wants to play. You can wear a fun necklace or let him have a toy or play a game with him while he nurses.
