Default Clogged duct this late in the game?

    Hello!

Not to give too much information, but my left breast is really sore whenever it touches anything or moves too much. It came on suddenly yesterday, and the first thing that came to mind is a clogged duct, but db is over 12 months old. And, she's emptied that breast a couple of times since and the soreness hasn't lessened.

Has anyone else had a clogged duct this late in the game? Or, should I be worried that it's something (gulp) more serious?

    Thank you!

Clogged ducts can pop up at any time in the game. Link on plugs and how to treat them: http://kellymom.com/bf/concerns/mother/mastitis/. In particular, stay alert for mastitis symptoms (red streaks on the breast, pus, fever, chills, malaise). If you feel like the plug is turning into mastitis, see your doc.

My son is 17 months and I had a clogged duct that lasted all day just last week. Hot shower, massage, and nursing as much as he would allow finally cleared it by the end of the day. But as mentioned, do look out for mastitis.

I've had two clogged ducts since DD turned 18 months. Toddlers can have very sporadic nursing habits and teething can interfere with their latch. Unfortunately, both can lead to clogged ducts. Good luck it getting it out!

Thank you, everyone! I'll give the treatments a try.
