Was he not happy with that gain?

I assume he was since he did not have the pedi there today come talk to me (she was grouchy and I didn't like her before). He was on the phone with the nurse and she said he just said to come in for the previously scheduled visit tomorrow. I guess I will have to burst his bubble when I tell him that I didn't give her any formula and she gained eating mostly from the breast.

Oh he didn't know. He probably assumes that's the reason.

Out of curiosity and for other mamas, what have you been doing differently that you contribute to the gain?

I started drinking Mother's Milk tea again on Sunday. That's it.

    . I thought 1oz/day was normal. Huh.

Switch to a different doc, mama. Dont let this doctor bully you. Testing doesn't not have to be done in the hospital.

Abbie lost 0.4oz since yesterday, so her pedi is sending her to CHOP specialists where they will run tests and figure out what is wrong.

I'm curious if you have tried nursing more frequently overall? Also, my understanding is weight gain comes in fits and starts, it averages about an ounce a day (up to a point, then it normally slows down) but that does not mean daily weight checks will show an ounce of gain every single day.

    Sorry for this frustrating situation!

She already nurses almost every hour while awake. Hopefully the pedi GI will be able to figure out what is going on.

Her weight doesn't seem scary low to me. My DD's weren't 8 lbs till they were around 8 months. All babies are different sizes. Milestones, and wet diapers are more accurate I think.

Remember YOU are the mom, YOU can deny any medical intervention you deem unwanted/unneeded. It's your ultimate choice. Sounds like a very uneducated on breastfeeding, bully of a ped, I would look for a new one.

Yes, I understand his worry, but this just isn't the way to help.

    Ways to help would be-
Have you come in and NURSE her and weigh before and after, for some hours maybe?
Take test and see how she is doing etc.

I would NOT give a top off bottle of formula cause that's just going to undermine your supply, if baby is still hungry it's best for baby to keep suckling on your to get your body to produce the more needed.
