Default Need suggestions to increase supply...

My 4 month old had a cold a month ago and didnt nurse enough, bringing on my menstration and lowering my milk supply. She ended up loosing 1 1/2 pound and was sent to hospital by doctor. I've been trying to increase my milk supply at the hospital they had me supplement with formula since I was not producing enough. Now Im still not making enough and she does not like to nurse as much. Please help. Just give me direction in some way...thank you!

Welcome to the forum! I'm sorry you've been having a tough time.

Is your baby well again? If she is, you can probably just nurse her and your supply will rebound quickly. If you pump in addition to nursing, preferably using a high-quality pump, your supply will rebound even faster. This resource covers increasing supply by pumping: http://www.kellymom.com/bf/pumping/p..._decrease.html. This one covers what to do about a baby who is reluctant to nurse: http://www.kellymom.com/bf/concerns/...to-breast.html And this one talks about how to wean from formula supplements: http://www.kellymom.com/bf/supply/decrease-formula.html

Check out those links, mama. What you need to do, to increase your supply and get your baby back to nursing full time, is nurse as much as possible. Pumping after your nursing sessions can really help too. Do you have a pump? What kind of pump? Different pumps really vary in their effectiveness. It might be worth considering renting a hospital grade pump for a couple months, it can really make a difference in supply.
