Thread: Pumping while nursing - huh?

Question Pumping while nursing - huh?

I'm still new at this and perhaps it will get easier as baby gets older - he's 5 wks - but how on earth do you pump while nursing? I don't have enough hands or room in my lap to imagine making this work.

I know it's possible so I'm hoping some veteran, hardworking mamas can explain it to me.

I could never manage it. So, it's not just you. I would just pump after she nursed in the morning when my supply was higher.

Are you pumping to go back to work or?

Christine, no, trying to up my supply. I've read some posts that moms find it really increases supply to pump while nursing.

Third time's a charm? Actively working to fully nurse my third child after two not so great relationships with others.

I had my husband help. LOL. I would nurse on one side, and he would hold the flange etc on the other side, at least until I got the hang of it. I did that to have enough for his morning bottle (I did it during the morning feeding) when I was having supply issues, and I found that it helped tremendously with getting a let-down with the pump.

What makes you believe your supply is low and needs to be boosted?
