Default just not responding to the pump

    hi all,
my lo will lo is almost 1 yo when we are together all day (4 days/week) i bf on demand and he is perfectly fine, meaning drinking enough and always satisfied. at work i still try to pump but i am getting less and less. i now only pump once a day at lunch (about 4.5 hours after i nurse last). i'm pumping right now and have only gotten about 2 oz. is this normal, am i just naturally weaning from the pump?

i never feel engorged anymore, just full first thing in the am, but there always seems to be enough for him when we are together... i am afraid to fully pump wean but i'm not getting much anyway? what do you all think?

I think it is normal, and this is why it is very difficult for many women to continue pumping long-term. The IBCLC I work with says many moms get habituated to the pump, and it stops stimulating supply as well as it used to.

If you pump wean, you will be able to go and nurse for years even

Nope Just nurse on demand when you are home, and you can wean off the pump when you are ready.

With PP. I fully pump weaned around 14 mo and LO continued to nurse no prob for another 3 mo (which is when we were both ready to stop nursing).

I pump-weaned around 10 months for the same reason--I was not responding to the pump anymore at all. We went on to nurse until my son was 21 months old.
