    IBCLC, think again..

Basically, under the latest health care act, you are entitled to have breastfeeding support and supplies for by your insurance company.

I know I often tell new moms to see an IBCLC because the problem is beyond my realm of expertise, as I'm not one (yet), they call one, and then find out it is $80/hour or more, and won't go. Or they have just one visit, which might not fix the issue.

If you have health coverage, you don't have to let money stop you from getting the best start possible with breastfeeding.

And be sure, if you need one, to ask if they will take a sliding scale or anything. If you can't afford it, I know they still want to help you (at least that's how it is with mine) so at least look into getting the help you need. We could not have done it without our excellent IBCLC and I'm still in contact with her 2.5 yrs later and am forever grateful.
