    Default Foremilk/Hindmilk imbalance at night??

So for the first time in a long time I had to pump in the middle of the night. I pumped for 20-25 min thru my second let down like I always do.

When I woke this morning and saw the bottle in the fridge it had a small amount of fat, nothing like my daytime bottles look. It looked "skinny" for lack of a better term. Any thought on why it would be so light on fat that time of night? I know that I emptied the breast (as much as you can with a pump).

A lot of mamas produce more prolactin and more milk at night, which means that the proportion of fat in the milk can be different at night. The longer milk sits unused in the breast, the more watery milk the tends to be in the mix, probably so that baby can have a very refreshing drink when she wakes up and nurses again. Also, the amount of fat in your milk will vary over time and based on how effectively you pumped.

Don't worry, what you observed was totally normal!
