Angry ..and now I have a bleb.

Finished my thrush treatment last night. Had about a week of pain free nursing. But yesterday afternoon before my last pill, my left nipple started hurting again. It was a little bit different pain than the thrush and since I hadn't even finished the treatment yet, I figured it wasn't that.
Today it's SUPER sore, but just on one specific spot on the tip of my nipple and right after she nurses I can see just a very small little bump. I can't see it after a couple of minutes so it must mostly be inside? It's amazing that something that looks so teeny can hurt so darned bad!

A bleb is a milk blister. I had one for months (maybe years, although because I wasn't lactating it didn't hurt). I tried everything. Steaming it, epsom salt washes, even picking at it with a needle. It finally came to a head after months and I was able to pop it.

yep. Milk blister. It's bigger tonight. I can see it even w/o having just nursed. I pray that means it's coming to a head and I can get rid of it soon. If not, Charlotte's first words are going to be "oh holy crap that hurts."

Sounds like a bleb. I had a bad one once. I had to pop it with a needle. I may be able to find the post. It was baddddddddddddddddddddddd. But it felt better after I popped it. You'll want to put some bacitracin on it to prevent an infection. The next thing you do not need is mastitis.

Oh I had no idea it was called a bleb! I had one early on too and they aren't fun. I can't imagine popping it though! OUCH! Mine was sort of more like a pebble than fluid-filled, so I couldn't pop it even though I tried...

A side note: I suffered thrush, mastitis, multiple clogs, a bleb, and then recurrent clogs AGAIN in my early months, but went on to have a great and long and PAINLESS breastfeeding relationship. But I clearly remember being 200% positive that I was CURSED. So I totally feel that. Just take it one day at a time.

Thanks JoMo. That's good to hear. We started out so great, I thought I was going to be one of those lucky ones w/o issues. Apparently notsomuch.

I think I got it popped last night. It's still tender today but less so. Probably just needs to heal. Boy popping hurt like a big dog, though. Sheesh.
I've decided someone needs to invent some gel that numbs nipples but not baby's mouths.

That's a good idea! Just as an aside, the bleb I mentioned that lasted forever still pops daily. It's not nearly as much as it was, but I can squeeze a little bit out every morning in the shower. Keep an eye on it. You should feel some relief though, from opening the pore back up.
