Can someone please reassure me that my LO is getting enough to eat? Paranoid first time mommy syndrome is kicking in over here! It's becoming a theme more often than not that DD just seems too distracted to nurse for a decent amount of time. (decent amount of time for her=5 minutes ) I mean, she literally will nurse just long enough for my milk to letdown and pop off and fight me when I try to reign her back in. I give up and set her down. Sometimes within a few minutes she'll fuss, but when I pick her back up, same darn thing, popping off and looking around. No, kid, the scenery has NOT changed since you last looked around...Anyway, I shouldn't be concerned about her getting enough since her diaper output is good, right? I guess this behavior, combined with the fact that she's starting to slow down in the weight gain department (she gained a pound a month the past two months as opposed to her usual two pounds a month) has got me freaking out just a little.
ETA: As far as diaper output goes, I'm fairly certain it's good. I mean, plenty of wet diapers, but she also, for the past couple months has gone down to one, maybe two poos a week. I keep reading that it's perfectly normal for breastfed babies to poo less often--again, I find myself second guessing myself on that one...it's soft, profuse, but not nearly as profuse as the early months. No straining or anything. This first time mom paranoia is for the birds, I tell ya!
