We saw the pediatrician today who examined our son. She said he did not have a cleft palate and his oral cavity looked normal. The only thing is that his chin is 'slightly' recessed, though it wasn't incredibly recessed. She said that if he's not breastfeeding now we should probably just recognize that we won't breastfeed and will have to exclusively pump, something that I don't agree with. She gave us the option (which we're taking) of seeing a feeding therapist.
Anyone know anything about feeding therapy? She mentioned a swallow study which from what I'm reading I'm not sure I'm comfortable with. It doesn't sound like a very good idea to force your child to swallow barium then take xray video of them. He's been through so much medically wise, I don't want to put him through more stressful procedures.
