Hello - I have a 15 day old baby girl (my second) and am giving a go to breastfeeding again (was not so successful with #1). She is wetting enough diapers and certainly nursing enough and is gaining weight. She has not, however, pooped on her own since her first day. She has pooped on day 5, 8, 9, and 14 all with the help of either a doctor's pinky or a suppository. My pediatrician seems concerned and of course we are too but we had the same issue with DD#1 (e.g. suppositories at the beginning) and she eventually 'went' on her own. DD#2 was born right at the start of 39 weeks. Just curious if this is the experience of other moms. Her stools are not hard by the way - meconium-like up until day 8 but yellowish green brown for the last 2 bowel movements (and a lot on this last one). We have visited a specialist who says a baby can go 10 days without a bowel movement and be breastfed and it can still be normal. I am exclusively breastfeeding and have given 1/2 an ounce of water to push things along (via a syringe) but that did not make her 'go'. Thanks in advance for your advice!
