    Default OT: Cooking with breastmilk?

Not sure which forum to post this... I just read an article somewhere on the web about people who cook with their breastmilk (pancakes, cupcakes, hot chocolate etc). I was so surprised and amused! I don't quite know what to think yet... I was curious what others here think about it...

I guess you could, but I would not want to waste it that way. When you heat it to a high temp some of the "good" parts are destroyed. I'd rather just cook with cow's milk or soymilk. I can't imagine adding chocolate to it. I wouldn't drink it, and my daughter clearly doesn't need chocolate in it.

Yes, it does seem like a waste. I never have any stored BM because my baby doesn't take a bottle, and whenever I pump my breasts go into insane oversupply (argh). The reason the story caught my eye is because I'm off dairy and soy for LO, and I miss milk!!! Rice milk sometimes just doesn't do it. Ultimately, however, I think I'd be a little freaked out to cook with BM.

Apparently someone even made BM cheese!!! (http://www.nypost.com/p/news/local/m...ZgO6iD07AX83MJ). !!!!!

I never tried! Sounds so yummy. She's reacted to peanuts, cashews and sesame seeds in the past, so I didn't even bother trying almonds, but perhaps the milk will be OK. I think at some point I tried a hazelnut milk drink and it was fine, but I moved and can't find it here anymore!

Coconut milk is pretty good. I've never done it, but I don't know that I'd want to waste it either. I'd probably have to pump for an hour just to bake a cake

I tried a chocolate-flavored coconut milk and it was very yummy! I forgot about it, it should hold up pretty well in recipes.
