When to introduce sippy cup?

My DD is 7mths, she is doing great with BLS. My question is, when did you introduce a sippy cup, and what did you give first? (water, juice, etc)

my ds is 7 months, i gave him a sippy cup around 6.5 months. he doesn't drink out of it yet, just pushes it around and naws on it i made sure it had a sippy that you have to suck through and not one to bite to get the contents out, wouldn't want that to become a habit. i give him water or a bit of juice and water.
