Default Having trouble again, feel like quitting

Hey everyone my LO is 17 weeks, I give him formula after his bath every night at 6pm but the rest of the time I breastfeed, these past 2 weeks we have been having problems. LO is taking down too much wind at feeds and is in pain with wind for upto an hour and a half after feeds .... He keeps losing suction, choking, gagging etc when I feed him. I had this problem before when he was sleeping through the night I was waking at 4am and expressing upto 4 oz's but this caused over supply/fast let down and he couldnt keep up... it seems we are having the same problem again. He has started waking between 2-4am for the past 2 weeks wanting a feed, so I don't know how to solve the problem this time as I can't stop him from feeding. Any suggestions? I put him down to bed at around 8-9pm... after he has been nursing for well over an hour. It's horrible because no matter how hard I try I can't get his wind up, and in the end he just ends up bringing back up his feed. It's a vicous circle and I don't know how to fix it. Any advice is greatly recieved, thank you

Has your baby been evaluated for acid reflux? If not, that's a place to start. If yes, then re-check that.

You also might have an OALD and OS again, and those can certainly cause these symptoms. Try blockfeeding for that.

I had the same problem with my mother in law! Don't let her get you down! You are doing an amazing job, keep up the good work. Don't let her make you feel inadequate.. I had that same issue and I had to finally tell her to drop it or she wouldn't see me anymore.

It definitely sounds like it could be reflux (in which case, formula is unlikely to improve matters and may make them worse) or OALD, which is actually pretty easily addressed, and most babies grow out of in short order. Hang in there, you are doing the right thing, breastfeeding your baby!
