    Default Stressed about poop

My dd has been an infrequent pooper since the beginning. She will be 6 weeks this coming Thursday.

She's been gaining about 4 oz per week and today has been nursing frequently especially after 3pm.

She gives me enough wet ones in 24 hrs and significant yellow poops when she goes which is about 2 a week, but I'm worried.

I have a ped visit tomorrow. I worry her being put in the failure to thrive category

I nurse throughout the night since we co-sleep and feed on demand throughout the day.

I also do breast compressions to assure she gets the hind milk.

My first pediatrician had a baby once (a daughter of a mutual friend) who pooped once a week, like clockwork. Infrequent poops aren't a concern; except in the fact that it can result in what we call a "poovalanche" or "poonami." In concern about poop, as long as it is loose and yellow, frequency isn't a problem.

Yes they are substantial. I just wish she were gaining a little more a week, but maybe she's taking after me 4 oz a week seems so little but in the norm of weekly gain for bfd babies I've read.

Don't worry about the poop! Totally normal for BF babies. My son is 6 weeks and is going once, maybe 2x per week and let me tell you, when he goes, he goes!!

Are your infrequent poopers slow weight gainers?
