    Default recent pain whlie breastfeeding

    Hello,
Recently breastfeeding has become painful...my son is almost 1 and I think the pain is coming from his teeth (he has 6). Is this normal?
    Thanks!

His teeth really should not be causing the pain. His tongue is blocking the bottom set and there is not enough pressure for the top to be the problem. You may need to see a doctor because you could have a yeast infection in your breast. Dont stop nursing though!!! Every problem that arises can be solved. I hope this helps you.

While pain may be due to thrush or injury or infection, a toddler's teeth can absolutely cause pain! Once the upper teeth start coming in, you may find that your son's latch needs some adjustment. Make sure he is in a position where his head is tilted back enough to take the tooth pressure off your nipples. It helps to place his head a little lower than usual so that he has to look up more to latch. You can also start working with him to use a bigger mouth, even demonstrating "ahhh" to help him learn.

Another reason could be if you are about to start your period again. I know my nipples got very tender and breastfeeding was a little uncomfortable before I started mine.
Did this for 9months with Kailey and Hailey
    who are now 8.

weaned Dane somewhere around 3.5 no longer he likes to sleep with his sisters He's now 5

    Thanks everyone.
I started my period at 5 months postpartum so I don't think that is it.
Would there be signs of an infection besides pain when nursing?
I *think it may be a latch issue, I am going to try to work on a wider latch.

What Teal said. Teeth can cause pain. Or rather, teething can cause pain. Or when the little blighters first come through and are razor sharp!
What is the pain like? Nipple or breast? When?

It is nipple pain, its a pretty sharp pain while he is nursing.
