Default best way to reintroduce breastmilk

my baby is 3 months and one week old and hasnt had breastmilk since he was about 2 weeks old. Ive relactated this past week and am up to about an ounce a day, but since ive been giving it to him hes went from very rarely spitting up to spitting up a few times a day. Could it be my breastmilk? Whats the best way to reintroduce him to it? Any help would be appreciated since i want to give him my milk but dont want to give him an upset tummy bc of it.

Hmm... that's odd. What kind of formula are you giving him? Do you think it's just a coincidence? Maybe you should repost in the allergy section?

are you giving him your milk directly from your breasts?
or are you pumping and storing the milk and giving it to him later in the day?
I would not necessarily link the breastmilk with spitting up.
How much formula a day is he getting?
    it could be a coincidence.
however, even if he is spitting up there is nothing unhealthy about spitting up.

pumping and storing since he cant latch yet. hes getting his usual amount except 5 ounces at bed instead of 6 bc the last ounce is me. i know its not serious i just thought it was weird that he spits up AFTER he gets breastmilk instead of on the formula

I don't know, it's pretty unlikely. When moms see that, it's usually a dairy or soy sensitivity, but you've given him such a small amount of your milk over the day that it doesn't seem like it would be enough to cause the spitting up. I think it's a coincidence. Have you tried saving your milk up for a couple days, and seeing if he stops spitting up with just the formula?

And Good for you! That's great that you are up to an ounce.

ive thought about that, and also to save it up and introduce him to it slowly like replace a bottle a day with breastmilk up until hes drinking nothing but breastmilk but itll be awhile before i can do that at one ounce a day but maybe ill get lucky and this time next week be up to 2 ounces a day.

you are really an inspiration to other moms and you deserve a big hooray!! Any amount of breast milk has a positive long term health benefit to the baby. the formula your Lo is on is dairy based, right? So please don't stress yourself out equating spitting up with your diet.

six ounces per feed? yikes ! that might be the culprit/tipping point. 2 ounces every two hours is on target. little tummies can only digest that much.

i agree that maybe the sheer volume is putting him over the edge and he is spitting up.

    good job by the way

has he been willing to latch? that would be a great way to increase production.
