Default I found a great way to clean pump parts and bottles!

    Ladies,

My grandma gave me a book about vinegar and all of it stellar uses.

Have you noticed that pump parts and bottle are difficult to get completely clean - there always seems to be some milk fat residue cloudyness.

Well I decided to try to soak the bottle and pump parts in hot water and vinegar - maybe two cups to the gallon? Not sure.

    It worked beautifully!

Awesome idea! I may try that this weekend. I do have some residue built up where I can't reach with any of my cleaning devices. Thanks!

Hi mama, glad your emarked on that here--sounds like you have hard water. We have rock hard water here and have to use vinegar every now and then to clean limescale out of the kettle; there are tablets to clean the washing machine & dishwasher. Really a problem here. Back in my pumping days I put all of my chalky pump parts, bottles and teats in a big pot with a splash of vinegar so it is the same solution you came up with. But I never thought of putting it up here as a tip... so glad you did, and look, it's already been helpful to someone! good on you!

The instructions I got with the Lact-Aid SNS system suggested this as a degreasing method, as well as a way to remove minerals. It works great.

I LOVE vinegar! It's cheap and I don't have to worry about spraying it around DS.
