Question How long will dry ice stay frozen?

I'm bringing EBM to a friend of mine this weekend. It will be an 8+ hour drive, and so I want to bring it on dry ice b/c it's already frozen and I don't want to have to worry about it thawing.

My thought was to pack it in a styrofoam cooler w/ dry ice. Does anyone have experience w/ this? Can I expect it to last at least 2-3 days until she can get some additional ice for the trip back home (she lives 4-5 hours away from where we will both be this weekend)?

    Any thoughts?

Probably not that long. I've used it for transporting food, but it went from freezer, chilled cooler, car to freezer.

I saw a thing about dry ice and shipping on HM4HB Global's FB, but my computer is down and getting links on the phone makes me nuts.

If the bags are in 2 oz increments, they thaw faster too...

I have got to find that how-to.

I ended up bringing my fresh milk from Thursday and Friday, plus some I pumped in the car on the way over on Saturday. It was less than I had planned on bringing her, but definitely enough for her needs. I didn't want to have to worry about the ice melting/sublimating in the 100 degree heat at all of our umpteen stops.

Frozen milk is cooler than regular ice, but dry ice is way colder than regular ice I thought.

That info would still be good to know FFR.
