I tried to teach my LO to sign for milk and please which he knew how to do but he picked up boobee from my daughters and it has stuck. Luckily he is 33 months so he doesn't ask for it in public often and when he does I can usually distract him.
Did this for 9months with Kailey and Hailey
    who are now 8.

weaned Dane somewhere around 3.5 no longer he likes to sleep with his sisters He's now 5

Now I am , , My baby Cruz who is almost 6 months and my last baby

I definitely agree with coming up with some kind of word. I never did and DH would always say "boobies" so one day DD started saying "booba" so that's what it is now! Neither mine of DH's parents support me nursing still (or ever for that matter) so it's embarrassing when she says "I wan a booba" at my parents house, but I just leave before she starts throwing a fit or lifting up my shirt!! Good luck, I'm sure if you work with you LO enough you will be able to get at least a little more politeness!!

My son is 18 months old and almost EBF (as I stated in another thread where I asked for help LOL). He calls nursing "nums" and says it like a moan HAHA. My parents and siblings are not in favor of breastfeeding this long so they are embarrassed and will tell me about it. If I don't respond to his request for "nums" he will shriek and then put his whole arm in my shirt and rip my nursing pads out for all the world to see. My choice then is to either stuff the pads back into my shirt in front of people or leave to nurse. LOL.
