I totally agree, your supply is awesome. I wouldn't supplement with formula. If you're worried about her getting enough, just nurse more frequently. Did you know formula isn't even proven SAFE for preemies or even full-term infants under 12 weeks? Powdered infant formula inherently has bacteria. Formula feeding has risks! If you have to, you have to. But honestly, I feel like your confidence is shaken, and that is the main issue. You are doing an awesome job! I also have some trauma from when my 5 month old was a newborn. My milk took forever to come in and we HAD to supplement the first two weeks. He's been exclusively breastfed since then, but I still count diapers and weigh him often. Your pediatrician sounds great. I have had some bad experiences with pedi's undermining me as a breastfeeding mother....but I am so so happy we stuck it out![]()

Pumping is SO NOT EASIER. I do it because I have to for my cleft baby who cannot nurse well enough to thrive via BFing alone, and it takes me 46 hours a week to pump, feed the baby and clean up. 120 minutes a day, around the clock, pumping is required to maintain your supply. Take those stats and tell them to back off and leave you alone while you work this out.
