My baby is six weeks old today. At 3.5 weeks we discovered he was tongue-tied and had his upper and lower lip clipped. Immediately after the surgery we nursed beautifully. But we haven't achieved the joy of breastfeeding since. Nursing is still painful (although not as bad as before). It may even hurt more in between nursing and I'm using Jack Newman's APNO cream. I still have bullseyes for nipples that I'm fearful will never heal. He doesn't appear to be latching deeply and I don't think he's using his tongue correctly at all. We have been doing some massage on his cheeks and tongue exercises but I am in a ton of pain--emotionally and physically--frustrated and ready to quit. We are seeing the dentist for a follow-up on Monday as well as a lactation consultant, but I just need to make it until then. Anyone have a similar situation or able to offer some encouragement??
