Default Back to work - pump both sides each pump?

I'm starting back to work next week, and I've been feeding her one side on each feeding (had some foremilk/hindmilk issues with oversupply). I've figured I'll need to pump 4 times while at the office, but should I only pump the breast she would be feeding from, or should I pump from both (and just bank the extra). I know stress will decrease supply, so I'm thinking I would be best with both, but I don't want to wind up with an oversupply issue again since we've just got that under control. Thanks!

I think I'd start by pumping both sides. THe pump will be less efficent than your LO, so hopefully it won't cause an oversupply problem.

IME you just feel better pumping both sides. More even

And if you're bringing too much milk home and having engorgement issues on the weekend, you can pump one less time.

I would consider pumping both sides at once, starting w/ 3 times per day. Then, if you are getting engorged on the weekends, cut back to 2 times per day. That's what I did, and I have oversupply/engorgement problems as well.

Thanks for the help. I've basically worked it out so that I pump after she eats in the morning at home, and then 2 times at work. That gives me enough for her, an even the occasional extra without the weekends being too engorged or her choking on every feed because of the fast flow.

Agreed -- double pump, and just adjust #/length of pumping sessions.
